They are Dr. Thomas M.

Davis, Dr. Edward North Dr. Robert Smith, and Dr. Charles N. Wright.

Dr. Norman C. Nelson, Medical Center vice chancellor and medical school dean, announced the appointments following approval of the Board of Trustees, State Institutions of Higher Learning. AH of the clinical instructors serve as preceptors for the UMC Department of Family Medicine and have medical students 1 working with them at some time MRS. Long, the Rev. Byron Malone and the Rev. Amason Tedder officiated. Mrs. Chapman died Sept.

28 in the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center following a lengthy illness at the age of 78. She was a native of Rankin County and was a lifelong member of the Cato Baptist Church near Mendenhall before moving to San Antonio, in her later years. She was a member of the North East Baptist Church in San Antonio. Her survivors include three sons, Clyde Chapman of Jackson, Carroll Chapman of Jackson, business manager of Herrin-Gear Chevrolet, and Wiley A. Chapman of Pearl; one daughter, Mrs.

Ruby Johnson of Mize; four brothers, Horace Grantham of Jackson, A. J. Grantham of Richland, Lester Grantham of Pearl and Harold Grantham of Oklahoma City, two sisters, Mrs. Irene Cagle and Mrs. Audry Robinson, both of Jackson; 18 grandchildren, including Greg and Kyle Chapman of Jackson, students at Woodland Hills Baptist Academy; and five great grandchildren.

Burial was in the Salem Cemetery. MRS. LL'CENE HOLDEN Jacksonian Graveside services were conducted Oct. 3 in Cedarlawn Cemetery for Mrs. Lucene Holden of 929 Meadowbrook Rd.

The Rev. Randy Shum-man officiated. Mrs. Holden, nee Eleanor Wilson, died the morning of Oct. 2 at her home at the age of 76.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson and a member of Riverside Independent Methodist Church. Her. survivors include a sister, Mrs. Mack W. Jones of Jackson; one nephew, Billy L.

Holden; three nieces, Mary Elizabeth Rice of Colorado Springs, Ann Medley of Ft. Walton Beach, and Elizabeth W. Payne of Washington, D.C. Pallbearers were Bill Holden, Rick Holden, Francis Cooper, Frank H. Cooper, Jimmy Cooper, Ben Woods and H.

L. Wolgamatt. MRS. TEELIE ABEL Star member A funeral was held Oct. 3 in the chapel of Wright and Ferguson for Mrs.

Teelie Abel of 515 Mitchell Ave. The Rev. W. C. McLelland officiated.

Mrs. Abel, 80, died early Sunday morning, Oct. 2, in a local nursing home. She was a native of Holly Bush, and had resided in Jackson for 56 years where she was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.

Her survivors include a son, Hugh D. Abel of San Francisco, three; grandchildren, Rondo H. AbeF and Miss Nancy Abel, both of Jackson, and Miss Rhonda C4 Abel of Boulder, and a number of nieces and; nephews. js Pallbearers were Paul; Dickson, Shelton McKay Stanser McKay, Ira WJ, Murray, Ernest W. French! and Lloyd Steverson.

Burial was in the Cedar-i lawn Cemetery. MRS. NORMER (Sue) GILL social services director Services were conducted Oct. 1 from the chapel of Wright and Ferguson for Mrs. Normer L.

(Sue) Gill of 6052 Woodhaven Rd. Dr. Frank Pollard, the Rev. W. Douglas Hudgins and the Rev.

David A. Mcintosh officiated. Mrs. Gill, 69, died unexpected Sept. 30 in the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center from an apparent heart attack.

Mrs. Gill, nee Sue Boren, was the daughter of O. T. and Elizabeth Gilmer Boren and a native of Oxford. She attended Mississippi University for Women, the University of Miss, and the University of Chicago.

She had resided in Jackson for 32 years where she was a former director of social services at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Friendship Bible Class. Her survivors include her husband; one son, Normer L. Gill one sister, Mrs. Luna Mae Fields; and three grandchildren, all of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Heart Association or the Baptist Children's Village. Pallbearers were Ralph Hester, Paul Pryor, Dr. Lee Reid, Crawley Stubblefield, Dr. David M. Switzer, Nick Walker, Frank Loflin, Paul Moak, C.

A native of Omaha, Hicks attended Phillips Exeter Academy and Coe College before starting his advertis- ing career in Atlanta. Before moving to Jackson, he worked on major national and international advertising projects. Hicks is married to the former Jennie M. Bowen of Atlanta.

They are expecting their first child in early November. Volunteers needed for fall activities Fall is a fun time of the year and the volunteer opportunities at the Jackson Area Voluntary Action Center certainly reflect that Volunteers are now needed to assist in teaching drama, arts and crafts, dance and skating at a local school. The center also is looking for volunteer workers to lead a Cub Scout Troop, coach several sports, and lifeguard at different locations in our city. All of these worthwhile activities will benefit young people who are in need of new A. P.
