Miller, Mrs. John B. JEFFERSON P. WALDROP Private services were held for Jefferson Preston Waldrop, a native of Meridian and former architect and industrial design consultant in Jackson. Waldrop died the morning of Oct 2 at his residence on Old Canton Road.

Waldrop received bis architectural education at Georgia Institute of Technology. During World War II, he was in charge of the industrial design division of the United States Ordinance Department in Washington, D. C. He served as president of the Mississippi Art Association in 1950-51 and was an active charter member of the Mississippi Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. He is survived by his wife, Ulna Waldrop of Jackson; two sons, Steve Waldrop of Houston, and Ken Waldrop of Monroe, and a sister, Mrs.

MRS. JAN BARLOW Star member Services were held Oct 8 in the chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home for Mrs. Jan (Ruth) Barlow of 1838 Howard St The Rev. Richard Brunk and the Rev. David Jones officiated.

Mrs. Barlow, 83, died the night of Oct 5 at Doctor's Hospital. A native of Itta Bena, she was a graduate of Grenada College and did graduate work at the University of Mississippi, Peabody College in Nashville, Millsaps and Belhaven Colleges in Jackson and the University of Southern Mississippi. She taught for over 25 years, including in McComb, Areola, Star, Byram and Florence. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, Jan Barlow of Jackson; one son, Jan Barlow Jr. of Moss Point, two sisters, Mrs. F. W. Dougan of Riverdale, Mrs.

Ralph dePfyffer of Laguna Hills, two brothers, Sam P. Cooper of Itta Bena and Singleton Cooper of Crossett, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jamie Traylor, E. J. VanZandt, Ed Smith, Leonard Metts, James Barlow and J.

0. Barlow. Burial was in the Lakewood Memorial Park. JAMES OLIVER ODOM III Graveside services were held Oct 11 at Babyland in Lakewood Memorial Park for James Oliver Odom III, infant son of Mr. and Mrs.

James 0. Odom Jr. of 825 Beasley Rd. The infant died Oct. 9 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Angela Marie Odom of Jackson; his grandparents, James 0. Odom Sr. of Pearl, Mrs. Bennie Odom of Jackson, Robert Green of Brandon and Barbara Green of Vero Beach, and a great grandmother, Mrs. Estelle Massey of Kosciusko.

Baldwin, Lee and Barnes Belhaven Chapel handled arrangements. ROBERT E. von OTTO victim Robert E. von Otto, 62, died at his home in Washington, D. Oct.

2, of cancer. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and an inventor holding several U. S. patents. He was buried Oct.

Early in his career he par- The Women's Missionary Society (WMS) of Riverside Independent Methodist Church will hold its annual Fall Fair on Tuesday, Oct 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Educational Wing of the church, 835 Riverside Dr. A variety of handcrafted items will be offered for sale.

Booths will include The Christmas Tree, Kiddie Komer, The Country Kitchen, Pillow Talk, Fabric Nook and many more. Be mice Black is chairman of the fair and Fernita Thompson is co-chairman. He served in the U. S.

Army Air Corps and upon discharge assisted in the design of the world's first all aircondition-ed passenger ships for the U. S. Maritime Commission. During the post World War II period he was employed by the General Services Administration and was promoted to National Chief of Engineering and Research. In this position he supervised the engineering design of the Department of State, Museum of Natural History and Technology, White House, National Aviation and Space Administration, among many prominent buildings.

Mr. von Otto entered private practice in 1962 as a partner in the firm of Bogan and von Otto, and in 1966 formed his own Professional Corporation. In June of 1982 he formed the Partnership with Michael Bilecky of von Otto and Bilecky, Professional Corporation. Mr. von Otto was a member of many professional associations, American Consulting Engineers Council and the Metropolitan Board of Trade.

He also served on the Advisory Board of Directors of Columbia First Federal Savings and Loan of Washington, D. and as a member of the mayor's Building Code Advisory Committee. He was an usher at the Washington Cathedral. He is survived by his wife, Mary Eloise von Otto (nee Swearingen) formerly of Kemper County; his mother, Catherine von Otto of Melbourne, his father, Harold Otto of Westport, a brother, Donald W. Otto of Brewster, N.

and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at the Washington Cathedral, Bethlehem Chapel, on Oct. 11. Memorial contributions may be made to. the Washington Cathedral.

KAREN WALTER Services were held Oct. 12 at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home for Karen Walter of 808 Woodlake Dr. The Rev. Warren Pittman, the Rev. David Patrick and the Rev.

William C. McLelland officiated. Miss Walter, 17, died Oct. 10. She is survived by her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Lawrence E. Walter of Jackson; a brother, Lawrence E. "Chip" Walter III of Jackson; and her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ruth Walter of Kewis, Kan.

Worship Service. Well-known in Mississippi, Mrs. King lias played the organ in churches since she was 14 years old. She has been church organist in Jackson churches since 1960, having served at Ridgecrest Baptist Church before going to Broadmoor. She has been a clinician and guest organist for several events at Gulfshore Baptist Assembly on the Gulf Coast Jan holds a degree in Religious Education from Mississippi College with a minor in music.

An employee of the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board, Jan is the mother of two sons, Jay and Paul. The public is invited to the program and to the reception which will follow in Fellowship Hall. She is calling the concert "A Celebration of Worship at the Keyboard." Series offered for the divorced A Divorce Adjustment series for recently (up to three years) separated and divorced Catholics and their friends is being offered on seven consecutive Monday evenings starting Oct. 18.
