The Service Club met last week to elect officers. The officers are Melissa Jones and Richelle Smith, co-presidents; Tim VanNoy, vice president; Kevin Cooper, secretary-treasurer; Jopi Duke, club reporter. After MRA defeated Jackson Prep, coach Jack Carlisle was named "coach of the week" by the daily paper, Mitch Collins, Sam Rea and Johny Deddens were interviewed by a local television station. LAST FRIDAY, Oct. 11, MRA defeated Columbia, 49-6.

The Patriots will play Clarksdale at home Oct. 18. "The Patriots Roar Into the 20's" is MRA's theme for homecoming, Oct. 25. Many students are practicing for the homecoming luncheon skit.

Those participating are Ruth Denny, Jay Fielder, Doug Duke, McKay Caston, Jopi Duke, Maison Heidelberg, Chris Harless, Kevin Cooper, Jimmy Gammill; Tim VanNoy, Richelle Smith, Leith Manning and Dana McKinney. The homecoming maids chose their escorts last week. They are Kris Rushing and Jimmy Gammill; Lucy McArthur and Maison Heidelberg; Jamie VanNoy and Tim VanNoy; Leslie Ricks and McKay Caston; Britton Ousley and Chase Forten-berry; Dana McKinney and Jim Prescott; Mary Frances Pyron and Chad Dacus. Bible study was held at Maison Heidelberg's house last Friday morning. Friday morning (Oct.

18) Bible study will be meet at Suzy Case's house. The Jackson Prep Marching Band and the Pacers Drill Team will perform Oct. 20 in the parking lot at Highland Village from p.m. in conjunction with the Mississippi Diabetes Association's bicycle race. The sophomore, junior, and senior classes have been constructing their floats, which will be unveiled tomorrow morning (Oct. 18). Last Friday night, the Patriots regained their momentum as they soundly defeated the Woodland Hills Wildcats 28-0. Several student council members recently attended a leadership convention hosted by Mississippi College. Attending were Mandy McNames, Mary Preston Hays, Ann Sours, Jonathon Smith, Billy Anderson, Allison Coggin, Stacy Stribling, David Fulcher, Jennifer Fortner, Bill Bradford; Merry Walker, Key Neville, Valerie Hyde, Angie Carter, Kathy Travis, Ford Dye, Elizabeth Noblin, Christy Neal, Janie Holman and Kevin Maris.

THE CREATIVE writing class taught by Mrs. Rhoda Yoder went on a field trip to the Jackson zoo as part of an assignment. As Stanley Wen said, the class got more than they bargained for when they tried to analyze a mischievious chimpanzee. WHS A Junior High School By BRANDY THAMES and MELISSA McMULLEN Sun School Columnists THIS PAST WEEK many Woodland Hills Baptist Academy Junior High students were seen at the fair riding rides and playing games. Among those were Jamie Meadows, Wendy Nielson, Amanda Ray, Michael Akin, Kim Keifer, J. Porter, Kay Keith, Missy Spell and many more. Last week Woodland Hills announced the Homecoming maids. Those elected from the ninth grade were Jessica Primos and Stacy Ball.

Next Friday (Oct. 18) after the Woodland Hills and Columbia game the Student Council is holding a semi-formal dance for the Junior High. WOODLAND HILLS played Jackson Prep Oct. 11. The Jr.

High score was Prep 55 and Woodland Hills 0. The seventh grade score was Prep 28 and Woodland Hills 8. Even though the Wildcats lost both games we are still very proud of their effort. The Jr. High cheerleaders performed a cheerleading routine and cheer at the Miss.

State Fair Oct. 12. They placed second in the state competition. The business club spoke with Jack Geary of Geary and Patterson Inc. on the role of the stock market in the free enterprise system. THE SCIENCE club elected its officers for this year. President of the club is Kathy Travis. Vice president is Sam Dixon; Terry Stone, secretary; and Tracy Tucker, treasurer.

The staff of Earthwinds, Prep's literary magazine, was selected. Kathryn Ruff has been named editor. Assistant editor is Debbie Ho; lay-out editor, Harry Chang; copy editor, Kathy Travis; art editor, Stacey Morrison; assistant art editor, Barry Duke; i Fiction editor, Eric Chisolm; assistant fiction editor, Sam Dixon; non-fiction editor, Stanley Wen; and poetry editor, Amy Fulgham. The Mustangs played Pearl last week but were defeated 29-20.

Bobby Blackmon scored on a 23-yard run, and Bill Alford kicked the extra point. Jeffrey Vann made a touchdown on a six-yard pass from Danny Clark, and Bill Alford again made the PAT. John Moore also scored on a nine-yard pass from Clark.
