Thursday, February 6, 1997 Mrs. Elmo Tisdale Services were held January 31 from Ridgeland United Methodist Church for Mrs. Elmo "Evie" Tisdale of Old Canton Road. The Revs. Percy Campbell, John Garrott and Jimmy Harrison officiated.

Mrs. Tisdale, 78, died January 29 at the Bond Home in Madison. A native and longtime resident of Ridgeland, Mrs. Tisdale was a graduate of Madison Ridgeland High School. She was a retired drug store clerk and a longtime columnist for the Madison County Herald and the Madison County Journal.

Mrs. Tisdale was the former post mistress of Ridgeland; former city clerk of Ridgeland; and a poll worker. She was a longtime member of Ridgeland United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Fifty Plus Club and the Senior Citizen Club. Survivors are her son "Billy" Tisdale of Madison; daughter Cindy Lariviere of Ridgeland; sister Jackie Robinson of Brandon; brothers Ellis E.

Adcock and Ernest J. Adcock, both of Ridgeland; grandchildren Machelle Bernheim of Madison, Valerie Latham of Ridgeland, Steven Tisdale of Madison; great grandchildren Lindsay Jane Evans, James Lee Evans, William Walter Tisdale and Christina Bernheim, all of Madison. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel or the choir of Ridgeland United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were John Hatch, Bob Hill, Carter Hill, Nathan Jordan, David Richardson and Randy Randolph. Burial was in Jessamine Cemetery.

Annie M. Kiefer Services were held January 29 from Southside Baptist Church for Annie M. Kiefer of Oxford Avenue. The Rev. Wallace R.

Terry officiated. Mrs. Kiefer, 80, died January 27 at Gilmore Memorial Hospital in Amory. A native of Quila, Mrs. Kiefer moved to Jackson from Vaiden in the 1950s.

She was a former member of the Jackson Garden Club. Mrs. Kiefer was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she belonged to the Ruth Sunday school class. Survivors are her husband Gene Kiefer of Jackson; daughter Dot Vinson East of Amory; son Ernest A. Vinson of Poulsbo, five grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Kiefer was preceded in death by her son James W. Vinson. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital Memorial Program, 501 St.

Jude Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Burial was in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Happenings After school art St. Andrew's will offer art lessons in stained-glass, watercolor, photography, pastel portraiture and portfolio-development February 10-March 27.

He was a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife Dot Massey of Huntsville; daughters Betty Kemp and Sandra Sumrall, both of Huntsville, Lawrenceville, Pamela all Pell formerly of Jackson, and Karen Morgan of Jackson; brothers French Massey of Universal City, Texas, Barnett Massey of Childersburg, Frank Massey of Phenix City, 12 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Beale, Steve Davis, Ken Dulaney, Joe Franklin, Bill McMahan and Jim Turner. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult Men's Sunday school class. Mrs. Frank E. Hart Sr. Services were held February 3 from Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home High Street Chapel for Margaret Walker Hart of Ridgeland. The Revs.

Robert Huffman and Don Rhymes officiated. Mrs. Hart, 81, died January 30 at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. A native of Picayune, Mrs.

Hart graduated from Huntington College with a degree in physical education. She coached high school basketball and tennis at Picayune High School. Mrs. Hart and her husband moved to Jackson in 1958. She was active in the support of the institutions where her husband was associated, University Hospital and Methodist Rehabilitation Center.

She was a member of St. Luke's Methodist church and was involved in United Methodist Women. Survivors are her son Frank E. Hart sister Frances Walker Whitfield of Laurel; and granddaughter Dara, a junior at Mississippi State. Mrs.

Hart was preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Hart Sr. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Methodist Church. Burial was in Palestine Cemetery, Picayune.

John E. Elsesser Services were held January 29 from Wright and Ferguson Parkway Chapel Ridgeland for John E. Elsesser of Winnrose Street. The Revs. Curtis L.

Cain and J. Rayford Woodrick officiated. Elsesser, 59, died January 27. A native of Mendota, Elsesser had been a resident of Jackson for 31 years. He was a member of Briarwood United Methodist Church where he was a member of the choir.

Survivors are his wife La Verne; son William John Elsesser II of Katy, Texas; daughter Jacqueline Ann Carmichael of Jackson; grandchildren William John Elsesser III and Anne Marie Carmichael. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Fund, American Heart Fund and Briarwood United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were George Bishop, Tommy Dyson, Sonny Steel, Billy Carpenter, Jim Ray and Joe Anglin. Burial was in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Sanders Services were held February 1 from Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street for Catherine W. Sanders of St. Catherine's Village. The Rev. Jac Ruffin officiated.

Mrs. Sanders, 79, died January 28 at her home. Born Catherine "Velma Williams July 8, 1917, near Birmingham, Mrs. Sanders was the first child of Joseph Olander Williams and Mattie Eunice Williams. When she was two years old, her family moved to Jackson where she attended public schools and graduated from Central High School.

In 1940, she married Robert D. Sanders, a pioneer in Mississippi's industrial development. They bought the former Brown's Wells resort property in Copiah County, renamed it Kaywood, and moved there to rear their children. Following her husband's death in 1954, she managed his extensive business interests, serving as officer and director for a number of corporations. In addition, she managed a commercial pheasant hunting operation at Kaywood that became known regionally and nationally, as much for the personality of its proprietor as for its hunting and hospitable accommodations.

"Katie," as she was known to everyone sent many students through school at Piney Woods Country Life School, at French Camp and Chamberlain Hunt Academies, and at Mississippi colleges and universities and contributed actively and creatively to charitable causes 1 until she became incapacitated by Alzheimer's Disease. She made the founding donation to the Sanders School of Cerebral Palsy, which later merged with Willowood Development Center. Survivors are her sons James William Sanders II and Robert David Sanders Jr. of Jackson; daughters Julia Sheila Sanders of Stanfordville, N.Y. and June Kelly Clement of Lufkin, Texas; sister Audrey W.

Brand of Clinton; 11 grandchildren Shirley Jean Sanders Reid, Samuel Allen Sanders, Megan Dolores Sanders, Catherine Olinda Murphy, Laurel Maude Kelly Murphy Whitworth, Jennings Carroll Clement III, Kelly Catherine Clement Spivey, David Warren Clement, Robert David Sanders III, Catherine Ruth Sanders and Jillian Porter Sanders; and great grandchildren Kelly Katherine Spivey, Sanders Allen Reid, Jennings Carroll Clement IV, Sarah Elizabeth Clement and Julia Maud Kelly Whitworth. Joseph Calvin Massey Services were held January 30 from Willowbrook Baptist Church for Joseph Calvin Massey of Huntsville, formerly of Jackson.

The Rev. John Dees officiated. Massey, 73, died January 28 at Huntsville Hospital. Massey was a World War II veteran having served aboard the Leslie L.B. Knox in the U.S.

Navy. He was with the U.S. Department of Labor Willie Sullivan Williams Services were held January 24 from Grace St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Memphis for Mrs. Willie Sullivan Williams of Memphis, formerly of Jackson.

Mrs. Williams, 88, died January 22 at her home. Mrs. Williams graduated from Millsaps College in 1929 and received a master's degree from Duke University. She was the first female chemist employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

was a member of Grace St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Community Bible Study and an active member of the Grandview Garden Club. Survivors are her daughters Vance Thompson Willey and Norma Thompson Wilson, both of Memphis; and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husbands, Norman Thompson and Garland H.

Parks Graveside services were held January 30 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Cabot, Ark. for Ralph A. of Sunnyvale Drive. Dr.

John Case and the Rev. David McIntosh officiated. Parks, 71, died January 27 at St. Dominic's Hospital. A native of Little Rock, Parks had formerly lived in Jackson, Tenn.

and Tupelo before moving to Jackson 30 years ago. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and he was a shriner. Parks was a pitcher with Little Rock Junior College and the University of Oklahoma baseball teams. He played in the semi-pro baseball league until he entered the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a former member of the Optimist Club. Parks was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he sang with the church choir and he was involved with the Methodist Cursillo. He was a financial planner with Jordan and Associates. Survivors are his daughters Janice Ball and Pam Toney, both Madison, and Ellen Dockery of Nashville; son Craig Parks of Austin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and brother R.D. Parks of Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to the Jubilate' Music Fund at Christ United Methodist Church. Bertha Meyer Anderson Memorial services will be held at a future date for Bertha Meyer Anderson of Ferriday, La. Mrs. Anderson, 89, died February at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday. A native of Shreveport, Mrs.

Anderson was a longtime resident of Port Gibson prior to moving to Jackson in 1987. She was a tournament bridge player and was a member of the American Bridge Contract League. She was the third Life Master in the State of Mississippi. Survivors are her daughter Jan Warner of Madison; granddaughter Julie Warner of Dallas; nephews George and Paul Meyer of Detroit. Memorials may be made to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, 4395 South Jackson, 39209.
