Thursday, June 17, 1999 THE NORTHSIDE SUN, JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI Page 7B Obituaries William D. Gooch Services were held June 10 from First Baptist Church, Madison for William D. Gooch of Elm Street, Madison. Gooch, 48, died June 8 at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.

A native of Oxford, Gooch was raised in Marks where he graduated high school. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Delta State University. Gooch was a member of First Baptist Church, Madison. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Buck Hill Hunting Club. Gooch coached church league basketball at FBC, Madison and summer league baseball in Madison.

Gooch was an avid Madison Ridgeland Academy supporter and was the owner of Post Construction Cleaning Service. His son William D. Gooch III of Madison said "He was a very loving father." Other survivors are his wife of 16 years Carrie Camp Gooch of God and country Troop Eight, First Baptist Church, Jackson recently recognized Joey Melton (center) for earning the God and Country Award. A seventh grader at Jackson Academy, he is shown with his parents Mr. and Mrs.

Mrs. W. Johnson Witt Services were held May 30 from Covenant Presbyterian Church for Lois Wellborn Witt, formerly of Eastover Drive. Dr. David Smith officiated.

Mrs. Witt died May 27 at St. Catherine's Village. A native of Texarkana, Texas, Mrs. Whitt was reared in Memphis.

She attended Southwestern College and was graduated from Memphis State University. Mrs. Witt was active in the High Noon Luncheon Club and the Holiday Club. She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she served as president of the Women of the Church. Survivors are her sons William Johnson Witt III of Cleveland, Ohio and Charles Wellborn Witt of Jackson; grandchildren Caroline Wellborn Witt, Stewart Johnson Witt, Huntington Witt and Candace Patricia Key Witt; great grandchild Olivia Grace Witt.

Brown Services were held recently for Charles E. Brown of Lakeland Lane. A native of Little Rock, Brown had lived in Jackson since 1978. He was a member of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. Brown was a retired executive business man and graduate of Millsaps College.

Survivors are his sons Charles E. Brown Jr. of Alliance, Ohio, Rex Brown of Jackson; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church. Leona F.

King Holmes Memorial services will be held in Bogalusa, La. and Houston for Leona Frances King Holmes of Lakeland Lane. Mrs. Holmes, 90, died June 11 at Lakeland Health Care Center. A native of Buena Vista, Mrs.

Holmes was a graduate of Chickasaw County Agricultural High School, Mississippi University for Women. She was a social worker for many years with Family Life Services in Washington and Orleans Parishes in Louisiana. She also was a home demonstration agent with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Services and a teacher at Duckhill High School. Mrs. Holmes was a longtime resident of Bogalusa, La.

where she was a member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church, Evergreen Society, Delphium Literary Club, Northeast Garden Club and Matrons Club. Survivors are her sister Lucille K. Jack of Ridgeland; brother Howard L. King of Tupelo; eight nieces and nephews. Mrs.

Holmes was preceded in death by her husband Raiford L. Holmes, sisters Corinne King Murphy, Grace King Osbeck and Ellie King Glass; and brother Samuel Terry King.
