Thursday, October 26, 1995 THE NORTHSIDE SUN, JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI Page 13A Arthur S. Coburn Jr. Services were held October 17 from the Memorial Funeral Home for Arthur Simpson Coburn Jr. of Columbus. Dr.

Bobby Douglas and the Rev. Ed Nix officiated. Coburn, 83, died October 15 at his home. A native of Meridian, Coburn was a graduate of Meridian High School, Class of 1930, and was associated with the Mobile and Ohio Railroad in the ticket office and then on a road crew. He served in the United States Army assigned to the seventh armored division and as a member of the 87th recon squadron of that division.

Coburn fought in northern France, Belgium and Holland as part of the Second British Army then back to Belgium where he received the Purple Heart for being wounded. Coburn was the recipient of the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the European African Middle East Medal. After a medical discharge, he became a registered X-ray technician and was associated with Lowndes General Hospital in Columbus for 30 years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, the Seventh Armored Division Association, the American Registry of X-ray Technicians and the Hawkins Memorial Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Mary Helen Coburn of Columbus; daughter Merrie Coburn Wiley of Jackson; brother Stephen P.

Coburn of Baytown, Texas; sister Hazel Agusta Riggan of Meridian; and four grandchildren. Coburn was preceded in death by his brother Ralph L. Coburn of Huntington, W.Va. Memorials may be made to Hawkins Memorial Methodist Church, Meridian or the Elevator Fund, First Baptist Church, Columbus. Pallbearers were Thomas Wiley Tom L.

Wiley III, David A. Wiley, Ronald Riggan, Hodges Riggan and James S. Brett. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery, Meridian. Robert J.

Frenzer A funeral mass will be celebrated October 14 in Dayton, Ohio for Robert J. Frenzer of 34 S. Crownpointe Dr. Frenzer, 69, died October 10 at his home. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Frenzer had been a resident of the Jackson area 36 years.

He was a communicant of Holy Family Catholic Church and co-owner of Magnolia Tool and Manufacturing Company, Inc. Frenzer was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army's 69th Infantry. He was a member of the VFW. Survivors are his wife Anita Frenzer of Jackson; daughter Patricia Perry of Cincinnati; granddaughter Kathi Perry of Jackson; grandson Karl David Perry of Cincinnati; sisters Mary Lou Koenig, Magdalene McGrew, Agnes Diemunsch and Stella Bailey, all of Dayton, Ohio. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Mississippi, 2600 Insurance Suite B120, Jackson, 39216-4911 or Holy Family Catholic Church Building Fund, 820 Forest Jackson, 39206.

Obituaries Lillian C.O.T. Holmes Services were held October 20 from St. James Episcopal Church for Lillian Claire Overton Todd Holmes of Eastbrooke. The Revs. Morris Thompson and Buddy Stallings officiated.

Mrs. Holmes, 75, died October 18 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. A native of Toone, Mrs. Holmes was reared i in Fulton. She was a graduate of Fulton High School, Hillman Junior College and University of Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in economics.

Mrs. Holmes was active in the Mississippi Republican Party since 1963. A communicant of St. James Episcopal Church, Mrs. Holmes had been a resident of Jackson since 1973 where she was associated with Deposit Guaranty National Bank from 1973 to 1982.

She was the first female management trainee for the bank and, prior to her retirement, was vice president for five years and business development consultant for two years. Survivors include her daughters Barbara Todd Simard of Quebec and Alice Todd Perry of Jackson; sons N. Wendell Todd Jr. of Atlanta and Mark Todd of Seattle; grandchildren Rebecca and Jim Perry of Jackson, Norman and James Todd of Atlanta; sister Martha Bolton of Memphis; brother Andy Overton of Bogalusa, stepdaughter Jan Martin of Westport, Conn. and her children Lynn Norman of San Francisco and Ann Sullivan of Wilton, Conn.

Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her husbands Norman W. Todd and Ross Holmes. Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 3921 Oakridge Jackson, 39216 or a favorite charity.

Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery, Newton. Jewel T. Phillips Services were held October 16 from the chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home, Ridgeland for Jewel T. Phillips of 7841 Ridge Yazoo City. The Rev.

Norris Ables officiated. Phillips, 79, died October 13 at his home. A native of Marshall County, Phillips was a former resident of Jackson, Ridgeland and Pickens where he was a cattle farmer. He had been a resident of Yazoo City for two years and was a graduate of Central High School. Phillips was past president of the Mississippi Fox Hunters Association.

He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Phillips was a member of the American Legion. Survivors are his nieces Kathy Ratliff Watson of Learned and Carlene Phillips Shope of Kansas City, nephew W.D. "Bill" Ratliff III of Madison; cousins Kenneth Lyles of luka, Joe Phillips of Burton, Ky.

and Imogene Coulter of Louisville, and several great nieces and great nephews. Phillips was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Phillips Ratliff and brother Carl Wayne Phillips. Pallbearers were Jim Watson, Otha Shivers, B.G. Garrison, Thomas Simpson, Bill Dillard and Don Garrison. Burial was in Jessamine Cemetery.

Mrs. Moses, 84, died October 16 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. A native of Scott County, Mrs. Moses was a former resident of Columbus, Ga.

and had been a resident of Jackson for the past 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors are her brother, Woodrow W. Bailey of Jackson; sister Mildred Bailey Brown of Jackson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Guy Bailey Jerry B.

Ward, Sherwood Bailey Deke Hewes, Scott Bailey, Jodie Bailey, George B. Gilmore and Larry W. Edwards. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park. Sara K.

Rowland Graveside services were held October 14 in Flora Cemetery for Sara Katherine Rowland of 4540 Manhattan Rd. The Rev. Chris Cumbest officiated. Miss Rowland, 86, died October 10 at River Oaks Hospital. A native and life long resident of Flora, Miss Rowland was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Survivors are her cousins: the families of Joseph Lane Middieton, Thomas Stephenson Rowland, Edna Earl R. Allard, J.A. Rowland Robert R. Middleton; and Len B. Middleton and son Adrain.

Memorials may be made to the building fund, Flora Methodist Church, Flora or a favorite charity. Pallbearers were John R. Anderson, Tommy Odom, Ed Triplett, Dudley Bozeman, Charles Leon Bowering and R.H. Posey Jr. Virginia M.

Dodson Services were held October 22 from St. James Episcopal Church for Virginia M. Dodson of Audubon Pointe Drive. Mrs. Dodson, 76, died October 20 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center.

A native of St. Louis, Mrs. Dodson moved to Gulfport in 1957 and was a long time resident of Gulfport. She was associated for many years as a purchasing agent and had retired from Reichoud Chemical Company in Gulfport. In 1993, Mrs.

Dodson moved to Jackson and accepted a position as corporate treasurer for Employer Plus, Inc. She was a lifetime member of the Gulf Coast Women's Bowling Association where she had served as president and secretary. She was included in the Gulf Coast Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame and the Mississippi State Bowling Hall of Fame. Survivors are her sons Geran F. Dodson of Atlanta, C.A.

Dodson of Jackson and Jeffrey L. Dodson of Savannah, six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and cousin Marian H. Mathes of Jackson. Mrs. Dodson was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A.

Dodson. Memorials may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 3921 Oakridge Jackson, 39216; the memorial fund of First Christian Church of Gulfport; or the Gulf Coast Women's Bowling Associ- ation. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery, Gulfport. Jeanette J.

Beasley Services were held October 3 from Wright and Ferguson High Street Chapel for Jeanette Jennings Beasley of Forest Point Drive. Dr. Fuller B. Saunders officiated. Mrs.

Beasley, 84, died October 1 at Manhattan Health Care Center. A native of Baywood, Mrs. Beasley had been a resident of the Jackson area for 60 years. She was a member of the Ridgeland United Methodist Church. Survivors are her son, Richard N.

Beasley Sr. of Jackson; grandchildren Richard N. (Ric) Beasley of Hendersonville, Michael Beasley of Natchez, Kathy Saunders of Ridgeland, Susan Exley of Brandon; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters Ruby Pohl of St. Louis, Mary Roberts of Winnfield, La. and Odell Hairston of Rockdale, Texas.

Mrs. Beasley was preceded in death by her husband, Fredric N. Beasley. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Pallbearers were Michael Beasley, Ric Beasley, Brent Saunders, Slade Exley and Dwight Shows.

Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park. Thomas H. Clem Services were held October 18 from Wright and Ferguson High Street Chapel for Thomas H. Clem of Kaywood Drive. The Rev.

Don Rhymes officiated. Clem, 70, died October 16 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. A native of Trumann, Clem was a former resident of St. Petersburg, Fla.

and had been a resident of Jackson five years. He was a member of Northview Baptist Church in St. Petersburg. Clem was a World War II veteran having served in the 82nd Airborne Paratroopers overseas and received the Purple Heart for being wounded in Belgium. As a systems analyst Clem set up the original IBM installation for Lamar Life and was later associated with Miller Transports.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors are his wife, Iris; daughter Sharon Conlin of Jackson; sister Marilyn Fielde of Jonesboro, brothers Doyle Clem of Jonesboro, Ark. and Robert Clem of Mt. View, and a number of nieces and nephews. Burial was in Parkway Memorial Cemetery, Ridgeland.
